Prayer for Joy!

Today, Monday November 22, Joy is expected to have a major surgery on her cervical spine (neck) to remove a tumor. Just to refresh you, this tumor was discovered in December 2007, during a routine MRI (due to the history of previous brain surgeries). It is a slow growing tumor, but IS growing.

She was called back for surgery at 11:25 AM. Prepping will take place in the first hour, so surgery should start around 12:30PM. The surgery is expected to take about 3 hours. Part of the operation will require the surgeons to move a muscle aside to get to the tumor. The scans have not determined whether the tumor is on the spinal cord or on the dura (flesh covering the spinal cord).

Please pray that Joy has peace about the surgery.  We are all concerned about the side effects of this risky operation and the painful recovery. We are asking for prayer that the surgery would go well and that Joy would come out of it without any major side effects. There is a good chance I won't be able to update everyone on the day of the surgery, since we will be away from home.

Please no gifts or flowers. Just prayers! However, if you would like to send a card and need Joy's address, please let us know and we would be happy to provide that for you.

Thank you and God Bless!
