Julia's weight this month was the exact same as last month, 23.4 lbs. Her length was 32 1/2, so she grew 1/4 an inch.
Julia's 20th month milestones: In her 19th month (February), Julia learned about 66 new words or phrases. Here they are: balloon (bahnoon), bananas (banas), beetle, Bert, bib, black, blocks, boat, broke it, brown, button, camel, clothes, coaster, coming, crayon, cupcakes, Daisy, dancing, dinosaur, dolphin, eggs (the plastic Easter ones), Emmeline (mah-line), Ernie, excuse me, feet, finger, friend, good morning (when she turns on a lamp), gross, hand, happy (sings "happy to you," doesn't know "birthday" yet), house, Jesus, just a minute, kangaroo (kay-roo), look, lotion (always asks for this when she sees it), moon, mouse, mouth, much (says "thank you much"), off, open, pants, pencils, Piglet, raining, ready (as in "ready, go!"), rooster, so, spaghetti, spider, stairs, stuck (if she or an object is stuck), sun, Tarzan, toes, train, truck, tv, yawn, yes, yogurt
loves: books, pens (writing on paper, but also on her hands), candy, chocolate milk, started liking cheddar cheese-still doesn't like too many textures, watching videos of herself (she keeps saying: "again, again")
DVD's she likes: Horton Hears a Who, Blue's Clue, Bug's Life, Charlotte's Web (the spider), Baby Preschool-Dookie & Dottie Duck, monkey movies (Aladdin, Tarzan, Horton, Buddy), babies in movies (Tarzan, Pixar Short film-Tin Toy w/baby)
Books she likes: Peekaboo Morning, Daddy Kisses, Mommy Carry Me Please, Bubbles Bubbles (Sesame Street), Daddy's Lullaby. Jeff added a Bible story each night from The Beginners Bible
color recognition: used fruit loops cereal and Nerds candy/mini m&m's to help learn color (knows: pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, brown)-gets them right at least 80% of the time- black/brown are the colors she knows the least
If I ask her questions, she often answers "no." Here are some examples of the questions:
can I have some (of her cookie)? no
do you want to go potty? no
Julia says: "come on" or "hand" to walk downstairs.
got in 2 new teeth (cuspids AKA fangs)- 2 days in a row- she had gone 4 1/2 months without a new tooth
