16 months

Julia is 16 months. Today I took pictures of her outside the doctor's office, since we were there for her 2nd flu shot. Mommy got the date wrong though, so we have to go back next week.

In her 15th month (October), Julia learned 30 new words: abc, baby, bath, bison, bubbles, bull, bunny, bye, cereal (one of her favorite words), chicken, deer, donkey, glasses, go, hat, hello, hi, horse (another favorite word-she actually says "horsey"), I see you, Jenny (says it repeatedly), kitty, Minnie, moo (which she says when she sees horses and ponies too-she's still a little confused), nice, one, Roxy, sit, sit down, spoon, uh-oh.

Letter sounds she hasn't really figured out yet are those that begin with: f, l, p, q, t, v x, z, although she says something with "t," that sounds like "tia" or "itia." We're not sure what she is saying, but she loves talking and she talks a lot while she plays. She also made up a couple of words, for instance, "war-see" means 'water' and "gum" means 'cup.'

It is so fun watching her grow and learn so quickly. So far in November, she hasn't added any words, except "shhhhhh," which is from her favorite book, "Daddy's Lullaby," which she loves having read to her each night! Jeff always reads to her each night 2, 3 or more books, until she kind of gives a sign that she is ready to go to sleep.

All of the animals that she has learned are from books or stuffed animals she has and possibly from DVDs. We haven't taken Julia to the zoo or Sea World yet, but I'm sure she would love it.

A few new things Julia has learned to do include: driving her toy cars, walking on her tip toes, walking up the stairs holding the railing, going down the stairs backwards (the safer way)- still needs work though!

As of November 1st, Julia's height is 31 inches even, so she has grown over an inch in about 3 weeks time. She weighs somewhere between 21 and 22 pounds. She's eating more people food, but I am still thrilled that she is willing to eat her veggies and fruit, without a fight.

Jeff and I love being Julia's parents. She is a really good girl most of the time. It is fun watching her play with her new Elmo, watching her feed it or hug it. She also loves when I make her a fort/tent with blankets. One of her favorite things to do is empty her toy bin and make a mess of the living room. Right now we think it is cute, seeing how she plays with all her toys, but soon she will need to learn to pick up the toys.
